My Experiences Within Motherhood, & my Attempts to Maintain a Personal Life Outside of It.

My experiences within motherhood and my attempt to maintain a personal life outside of it.
...Here I record my own self discipline: My commitment not to "let myself go". My promise to seek my God and follow my passions.
My attempt to do so despite and amidst the chaos of chasing around my high-energy kids while learning the French culture...

WELCOME

Hi. I'm Maribeth.
I'm just your average, tea drinking, beauty-admiring, joy-seeking, Jesus-loving, California girl and full-time mommy/wife who happens to be living in Paris, France!

My family picked up our lives and moved to France in January of 2013, and we are right in the middle of transition, cultural shock, Christian ministry, and loads of adventures.

About Finding Me.
This blog was born a year into the life of my first child, upon which I had discovered that I was facing an identity crisis.  I soon began to realize, that I, like the average American mother, was hardly alone.

In the effort to be a great parent, we mommies often lose sight of our true selves.  With literally millions of blogs out there by accomplished women, and Pinterest boards over-flowing with every kind of female accomplishment known to man (take your pick of awesome DIYs, remodels, recipes, homemade cleaners, homeschool curriculum, parenting philosophies, business theories, perfect chocolate chip cookies and fabulous pallet board up cycles), it's easy to feel inadequate.  To think there is more we should be doing.  To take on the posture of a failure.

I refuse to believe that that is true.  But I also refuse to let the demands of everyday mommy-hood keep me from being true to myself and the purpose the Creator fashioned within me.  This is the essence of Finding Me.

I am now mother to two of the most stinkin' adorable children you will ever meet (I said they were adorable, not easy). Charity - 4, and Silas -2, and together, with my incredible husband, we are trying to make a life for ourselves in the strange new land of France.

The journey to self-discovery is an incredibly invaluable one.  I invite you to start your own journey as you watch me catalogue mine.  It's sometimes ugly, but even the ugly is beautiful in the hands of the King.  Thanks for reading!

Favorite Blog Posts & Topics.
Here are some of the besties:

  • If you want to read about the beginning of the journey, first click here and then here
  • This post speaks a lot about the very essence of why I started blogging in the first place.
  • There are a lot of blogs out there that depict an American super mom.  I don't want to pretend to be one of them.  That's not why I blog.  I'm imperfect, and that's part of the journey
  • Go here if you want to see the beginning of our voyage to Paris captured on video.  (Warning! It's a little cheesy!)
