My Experiences Within Motherhood, & my Attempts to Maintain a Personal Life Outside of It.

My experiences within motherhood and my attempt to maintain a personal life outside of it.
...Here I record my own self discipline: My commitment not to "let myself go". My promise to seek my God and follow my passions.
My attempt to do so despite and amidst the chaos of chasing around my high-energy kids while learning the French culture...

A Week of Wonderful

Man, it's been a while since I've written one of these!  The lame part is, almost every Sunday that has gone by since the last Week of Wonderful post I wrote has had me thinking about that week and what I could write.... it just took me this long to do it! :)

Ten Things That Made This Week Wonderful
  1. What started out as a week that I dreaded because I was going to be alone, has turned into a jam-packed week of visiting with friends and getting projects done around the house.  What a great feeling!
  2. I have really enjoyed having the car all to myself this week.  Being only a one-car-family, I am rarely the one who winds up with the vehicle, so it has been nice to have a little more independence and go out when I want to.
  3. On Monday, I took Charity to the park down the street where we ran around and played in the grass. We met a young mom and her two year old son while were there; maybe I'll get to see them there again!
  4. John's first several days in Taiwan with the team have already been encouraging and God is beginning to answer prayer as they minister.
  5. I am so thankful for modern technology -- I've been able to talk to John twice a day via video chat.  If I can't see him in person, at least I get to see him on the computer screen.
  6. Did I mention that talking on the video chat with John is absolutely free??  You would have never seen that ten years ago.
  7. It is so precious to watch Charity figure out how to interact with her dad on the computer.  She came up with a way to play peek-a-boo with him by hiding from the screen and popping up with a big smile on her face.  It had both John and I rolling.
  8. I made homemade pineapple grilled salsa with a girlfriend the other day.  Then we went to a barbecue together where Charity got to play on the playground.  Such fun!
  9. Every night (except for tonight cause it's all gone), I have been able to enjoy a delightful dish of my favorite ice cream, chocolate chip cookie dough, before going to bed.  It's the little things.
  10. I'm super jazzed because today our dear friend Rick came over to help me out by installing a big shelf in my laundry room, and was Mr. Fix-it for a few other odds and ends.  Having that shelf in there makes a world of difference, and I am FINALLY able to organize my laundry room the way I've wanted to... HURRAY!

Ha ha, okay I laughed at number one. How funny that when your husband left the country, some OTHER man came and fixed the shelf you've been wanting for months. That sounds so classically like MY husband :)
