“Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple.”
I don't know that Dr. Seuss intended it this way, but I believe this statement says a lot about our thoughts on God, His ways, faith, and theology in general. As finite humans, I so often see us "challenging" God with our list of questions about life that we demand an answer to. I see this especially with the youth that John and I work with on regular basis at our church.
God is an infinite, all-powerful, limitless being that for some crazy reason is enamored with little mankind. His greatness is beyond our human explanation, but somehow we still dare to interrogate his character, his plans, his purposes, because of our lack of understanding. "Dear child," I can imagine Him saying, "If you only could know that these complex questions are really quite trivial. My ways are far more simple than you realize."
I imagine He looks at us the way we look at our own children sometimes when they throw a fit, or teenagers when they get caught up in some form of drama: "Really, this is not worth getting upset over. If you only knew how trivial this was in light of everything else in life. But you can't recognize that because this is all you know at this point. Your experience informs you, and you haven't experienced as much as I have, so you won't understand until the day that you are in my shoes. Then you will look back at the questions you had today and wonder, 'why was I so concerned over that?'..."
